The law firm of Williams, Morris & Waymire was formed in August, 2009 by Terry E. Williams, G. Kevin Morris and Jason C. Waymire, who have practiced law together for over 10 years, formerly through Terry E. Williams & Associates.  Williams, Morris & Waymire is devoted exclusively to litigation in all state and federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels.  Senior partner Terry E. Williams was formerly a partner in an Atlanta law firm for many years, and Mr. Williams has extensive experience in state and federal courts, having conducted over 35 civil jury trials and numerous bench trials in 25 years of practice.  Mr. Williams has handled dozens of appeals before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and Georgia’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

The firm’s attorneys specialize in representation of local governments throughout the state of Georgia, both in general liability matters and in civil rights litigation in federal court, which includes representing governmental entities and their employees in claims involving police misconduct, prisoner rights, jail conditions, and civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.  The growth in metropolitan Atlanta and other areas throughout Georgia over the years has resulted in a substantial increase in claims arising from road defects and conditions, inverse condemnation, land use, and environmental issues, and the firm’s lawyers have been on the cutting edge of the law in those areas. The firm also handles employment related claims, including claims for discrimination in hiring and promotion, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and other deprivations of constitutional rights relating to employment matters.  The firm’s attorneys have experience in representing governmental defendants in all of these matters.

Over the years, the firm’s lawyers have had the opportunity to represent and defend 70 different county governments and/or their officials or employees in litigated matters, including Cherokee County, Cobb County, Douglas County, Forsyth County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, Hall County, Henry County, Paulding County and Rockdale County in the metropolitan Atlanta area.  The firm’s lawyers have also represented over 30 different municipalities, including the cities of Buford, Suwanee and Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County, City of Decatur in Dekalb County, City of Marietta in Cobb County, and City of Conyers in Rockdale County.

The firm and its lawyers’ client representation has been through direct retention by the governmental entity and by claims agencies handling liability membership pools, such as GIRMA and ACCG-IRMA, and retention by insurance companies.  Representative insurance carriers are Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Georgia Farm Bureau, Lincoln National Insurance Company, Lloyds of London, National American Insurance Company, County Reinsurance, LTD, Generali-U.S. Branch, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, SAFECO Insurance Company and Trident Insurance Services, Inc.
